Taps
have a special relief which enable the tap to cut freely by lessening
the heat and friction. They are coated with a Blue Diamond surface
treatment which will result in longer tool life, and better quality
threads. Galling and surface welding are virtually eliminated with
these taps. They work well on medium and high carbon steels, alloy
steels, tool steels, and stainless steel. Not recommended on materials
above 35 Rc. |

BLUE
Taps will provide longer life and better thread finish versus
standard taps in material such as medium and high carbon steel
(1030 - 1045 - 1060), low and medium carbon alloy steels (4320
- 6620 - 8625 - 4130 - 4150 - 4340) and annealed condition steels
(300 and 400 series). When using materials above 30 Rc, we recommend
using the straight flute tap with a blue diamond treatment. |
